Join BA (Hons) Media Production students from Bournemouth University at the Frankenstein Unbound conference at St Peter’s Church, Bournemouth, UK to hear a selection of production ideas for the audio adaptation of Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein (1818) in the Shelley family’s final resting place. Final productions broadcast on BIRSt.co.uk in December 2018.

Frankenstein Read Aloud

Join us on Halloween day as we celebrate the 200th Anniversary of the publication of Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein by reading selections from the infamous gothic novel aloud. The reading will start at Noon, and participants are encouraged to sign up to read in 15 minute increments. Sign up sheets are available at the Main Floor desk of the Library or you can sign up by calling: 515-432-3727. Feel free to also participate by stopping in to listen. Halloween treats will be served! Open to all ages!

Frankenreads at the U of S

Saskatoon Saskatchewan’s Frankenreads at the U of S will include a trivia quiz, scenes from H M Milner’s 1826 play Man and the Monster performed by University of Saskatchewan drama students, and a panel discussion offering perspectives on the novel from the disciplines of Cryobiology, Drama, English literature, and the History of Medicine.

Halloween Open House

In honor of the 200th anniversary of Frankenstein and to celebrate Halloween, DePaul University Library’s Special Collections and Archives will be hosting an open house from 11:30-2:00 p.m. featuring all things gothic and spooky. There will be multiple editions of Frankenstein on display, including a facsimile of Mary Shelley’s manuscript and two illustrated editions. You will also find books mentioned in and related to Frankenstein such as a text by Shelley’s father, William Godwin, about necromancers. Visitors will be able to view additional gothic titles and other eerie materials from our collections.

Alive and Kicking part 2: Teen proof Frankenstein

High school students will make Frankenstein and its themes enjoyable to teenagers. Before leaving to Bournemouth on a study holiday and in order to celebrate Frankenstein’s 200 Birthday, the students will share all of the crafted materials on October 30th and 31st.

A gloomy and Gothic atmosphere will be recreated while sharing ..
