Published 200 years ago and never out of print since then, Mary Shelley’s novel Frankenstein is a story of a man obsessed with creating artificial life. Victor Frankenstein and his rejected creation aren’t far removed from today’s discussions on fetal tissue research, life-extension, human cloning, and surrogate motherhood.
